Instagram’s following tab was an area that shows the complete activity feeds of others. The activity feed which let users about people’s activities such as what posts they are liking, commenting on, and following.

The company already has removed this tab from some user’s app and Instagram confirmed it to BuzzFeed news that this will be completely removed for everyone in this following week. According to Instagram’s head of product Vishal Shah, the tab was removed for the sake of simplicity.

“People didn’t always know that their activity is surfacing. So you have a case where it’s not serving the use case you built if for, but it’s also causing people to be surprised when their activity is showing up,” said Shah.

Instagram launched its Following tab feature in 2011. Some people used it to track their friend’s activity where on the other hand some even didn’t know about this feature. People used Twitter and Reddit to express their mix feeling over Instagram’s step. Some people think this is a good step for the privacy prospects where some going to miss this feature so badly.
